Touchscreen Macs are here – the MacBook Pro with PROLED XDR Display
About the Touchscreen Macs are here – the MacBook Pro with PROLED XDR Display
The long-rumoured touch screen MacBook Pro is here. The Touch Bar is long gone but now there's a whole display to play with.
Featuring multi-touch, this new PROLED XDR display also features a Dynamic Island and is built with a Tandem OLED like the iPad Pro models. Apple promises 2,000-nits of brightness, up from 1,600, and it should be good for outside use. Especially when paired with the optional nano-texture display. The Tandem OLED will provide true-to-life colour and incredible contrast.
The 14" model weighs in at 220g less than the regular MacBook Pro but is currently limited to the M5 Pro and M5 Max while the regular models got a M6 option this week.
On top of that, these new MacBook Pros promise 24-hours of battery life. Apple Intelligence is of course standard as is Touch ID for seamless logins and verification.
If you need to push your MacBook Pro to the limit, choose up to 128GB of RAM and a 16TB SSD in the 16" models.
The Dynamic Island brings a feature that iPhones have had for years to the Mac for the first time allowing you to see your activities, alerts and notifications at a glance.
The MacBook Pro was already a capable machine where you can do it all and the new PROLED XDR touchscreen display lets you interact with your Mac like never before.
Oh, and one last thing... the illuminated Apple logo on the MacBook Pro's lid is back!

Our thoughts
The real barrier to entry here is price, but the convenience of touch and the quality of the display might just be enough to justify the upgrade on a regular MacBook Pro.
MacBook's are in a golden era right now. The MacBook Neo is a fantastic entry-level model. The MacBook Air is a computer for everyone and the 'regular' MacBook Pros are brilliant devices that take full advantage of what Apple Silicon brings to the table and this display just elevates the display. It's what Apple does best.
I can't wait to see the new display in person.
