About the iPhone Duo – the first foldable phone by Apple
The new Apple iPhone Duo is their first foldable phone, their thinnest yet when open flat. It features a similar plateau to that of the iPhone Air but opens up to reveal a larger display. Both the internal and external display have the same ratio so they transition seamlessly and there are animations to match the opening and closing of the device as one form factor becomes another.
The iPhone Duo can open flat but also sits at 90º which gives you a few options. It allows you to prop the Centre Stage camera for video calling or use your iPhone as a night time companion in Standby Mode and the internal display will glow in the morning to help gently wake you up.
The wide-angle OLED can achieve 3,000 nits of brightness and features a 7.6" display which is 50% bigger than the iPhone Pro Max. The display features a nano-texture to help reduce glare and makes the crease imperceptible. the Centre Stage camera now lives under the display on the inside screen making it disappear completely when not in use. Outside is a 5.4" display protected by Ceramic Shield 2.
There's Touch ID on the side button and the OS has been adapted to not only put buttons and information into reachable positions, but it now allows you to use apps side-by-side. You can even pair apps to be together.
Kid Cue shows animations on the outer screen when using the cameras to take photos, a great way to keep attention where it's needed. The same screen can be used for Duo Preview which allows the person you're capturing a photo of to compose themselves.
The A20 Pro chip powers it all, from Siri AI to the game engine keeping you entertained.
The hinge is made from titanium and is built to last while magnets keep everything in place and providing a satisfying feeling when opening and closing the iPhone Duo.
