About the HWA EVO – The Mercedes-Benz 190E EVO II Restomod
A renowned manufacturer of racing cars and sports cars, the Affalterbach-based company recently announced the development of the HWA EVO. A road-legal sports car takes the now legendary Mercedes-Benz 190E 2.5-16 Evo II and equips it with state-of-the-art technology.
Limited to 100 units, the HWA EVO arrives in 2025. HWA are taking their own motorsport DNA and mixing it with something classic. The result is an ultra-modern take on one of the the most famous DTM cars of all time. Only 500 Evo IIs were created and they became a design icon of the 1990s.
The HWA EVO is based on the Mercedes-Benz W201 series and is due to get a state-of-the-art powertrain, performance, chassis and brakes. The HWA EVO is being built in partnership with US vintage car specialists, CURATED.

The EVO II was a design icon of the early 1990s and set benchmarks in terms of style. Our idea was to reinterpret this design. With CURATED, we wanted a partner at our side for this project who knows the market for such cars inside out and believes in the HWA EVO. I think we are creating the best conditions for the HWA EVO to be successful.

Our thoughts
The HWA EVO looks like a stunning car, taking the classic 190E DTM car silhouette and bringing it up to date. Shown in the photos are ultra-modern headlight technology and that alone makes it really stand out as something more than just a restored 190E.
There are no details on the powertrain, but I assume it will be an ICE powered car. For me, HWA should take the opportunity to bringing it right up to date and make it an EV instead.
